I am on the faculty of the Department of Geography at San Diego State University.

I am not currently accepting new PhD students for 2025. (I could potentially serve as a member of a PhD committee for students with another primary advisor)
Students interested in working with me as a graduate student at SDSU in 2025 and beyond should:
a) read the web pages of the Geography the Masters Program (and PhD program);
b) read about my research on my research page and you can find information about our publication here, and then,
c) contact me by email and let me know what your research interests and professional objectives are, and a bit about your background. Please attach a CV or resume, and a draft of your graduate school application Statement of Purpose if you have already drafted one. The next step would be to set up a video meeting.
You can email me at:

The tools used in my lab to study plant community patterns and dynamics on landscapes include a combination of spatial, statistical and multivariate data analysis methods, GIS, computer simulation modeling, field surveys, and remote sensing data products. I am particularly interested in students who have strong foundations in geospatial and statistical data analytics, and in ecology, conservation and botany! We are currently focusing our efforts on our research project on Vulnerability of Plant Species to Global Change in California using species distribution modeling, population simulation modeling, and geospatial data analysis.
